An Australian abstract painter explains making collage papers two ways (gelli-plate printing with rope, cardboard and leaves, or direct painting with ink, charcoal, watercolour and gesso) and then working them into layered abstract paintings. Her rule is to overpaint freely but always leave part of the earlier layers visible.
