A professional illustrator shows four ways to extend acrylic working time: how absorbent the surface is (with timed tests on gloss medium versus gesso), retarders and slow-drying paint lines, controlling studio humidity with dew point, and keeping a sealed palette damp. Combined, these give two to three hours of wet-in-wet painting.
